Black Hat Re-Design: LIVE

Black Hat USA 09 Home

Black Hat USA 09 Home

I’m proud to announce that the Black Hat USA Conference micro-site has been redesigned and launched under the BlackHat.com organizational site. You can see it live here. I completed this micro-site as part of an ongoing effort to redesign the entire BlackHat.com site and streamline the Black Hat brand. The USA micro-site will be the first in a series of Black Hat event micro-sites focusing on individual events (DC, Europe, Japan, etc), as well as a complete redesign on BlackHat.com. Highlights in this design include a complete build from scratch using hand-coded HTML and advanced CSS techniques (without any JavaScript or Flash) to provide increased security and usability for our target demographic.

The Black Hat Briefings have become the biggest and the most important security conference series in the world by sticking to our core value: serving the information security community by delivering timely, actionable security information in a friendly, vendor-neutral environment.

The designs you find here can be described in four ways: well-coded, good-looking, functional, and inspirational. These are all very good examples of web design at its finest.

Logo Design

I finally got around to loading up the logos I’ve worked on in the last few months. A few of them I’m quite proud of because they feature custom illustrations, especially the Santa Rita German Shepherds logo for their website.

Check out my new logos in the Print Design section on my portfolio site here.

The Emerald City

My long journey is over and I’m finally here in Seattle looking for work as a professional graphic designer. Luckily I’m staying with a friend for a little while as I get settled.

Playing Catch-up

So apparently I have this blog. I have been wondering what to use it for and I think I’m going to go with the more professional application of “news/updates” with an occasional “hey i saw this design thing and thought you might appreciate it” route, instead of chatting about politics and relationships and whatnot. So the first few posts will catch everyone up on what i’ve been doing this whole time, then we will get to more current’ish events after that. Sound good? Ok, go.

Professional Web Design

In the Fall of 2008, I found myself in need of a new fulltime position where I could learn and grow as a designer. I wasn’t sure whether or not I even wanted to stay in San Antonio, but as I was uemployed and freelance was unstable, I felt I should stay in the area for a little while longer before I move anywhere else. I decided to work with a web design and development company on the North Side called Altair Technology. This was an amazing experience on many levels, as I was able to not only sharpen my web design skills but I had the opportunity to build new sites from the ground up, create logos and produce professional illustrations for real clients. You can see many of these concepts and new logos here: [ interactive design portfolio ]

Welcome to Toyota Texas

In the summer of 2008, I had a wonderful opportunity to work with local marketing firm the Drew/Walker Group on a number of strategic creative projects. The most ambitious and successful of which was a complete redesign of the Toyota Texas Manufacturing Visitor & Education Center in San Antonio, TX. Continue reading or download the PDF below.
