Refresh Seattle is a community of designers and developers working to refresh the creative, technical, and
professional culture of New Media endeavors in the Seattle/Puget Sound area, promoting design,
technology, usability, and standards. As a new and active member of the creative community, I was invited to
speak at the August event, where I delivered a presentation entitled "The Type Divide," discussing the
rapidly changing landscape of web typography and the potential challenges for both junior and senior
designers.
“I see the value in these new tools, but I also see trouble in the long term, as the traditional design
community embraces the new tools and push head-first into production but still do not have a proper
understanding of the fundamentals so that web development is again takes a backseat even further to the
whims of the designer, and so the divide between designers and developers is further deepened.”

Allison Lehman is a Columbus, Ohio based graphic designer, photographer & blogger who researches artists and designers from around the United States in an effort to explore, discover and share a high quality of work and creativity that may fall under the radar of traditional media sources. Allison and I met and connected through Twitter earlier this year, was interested in my work as an illustrator and designer and decided to interview me for her new "Meet the Artist" feature in February, 2010. Her questions ranged from inspiration to self-evaluation, and was a great experience and exercise in reminding myself why I do what I do. You can read the article linked below.

WPDFD is a web design community portal featuring news articles and resources for web designers. I
submitted my portfolio site (byrongronseth.com) for review and was selected as the top design under the
WPDFD Featured Designs.
“The designs you find here can be described in four ways: well-coded, good-looking, functional, and
inspirational. These are all very good examples of web design at its finest.”
